Hampton Funk Fest

Hampton Coliseum is pleased to announce the return of Hampton Funk Fest featuring Bootsy Collins, Zapp, Rose Royce, Con Funk Shun and Lenny Williams on Friday, February 1st, 2013 at 8 pm.  Fans “Can’t Stay Away” from funk legend Bootsy Collins and his star-studded bass guitars. With major hits including “I’d Rather Be With You” and “Stretching Out (in a Rubber Band),” this Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is sure to put on one memorable show! The “auto-tune” we hear in popular music today is influenced by Zapp’s famous “talk box”. The band garnered much success from the talk box used in “Computer Love,” “I Want to Be Your Man” and “More Bounce to the Ounce”.  Fans are sure to sing along to “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” and “Wishing on a Star” by Rose Royce. The group is famously known for their work on the soundtrack to Car Wash. “Car Wash” is one of the most sampled songs in both the hip-hop and R&B genres. Get down with even more superstars of funk including Con Funk Shun (“Love’s Train”) and Lenny Williams (“Cause I Love You”).
